How saying "peace be with you" in church came to be

Last Sunday I felt like a comeback kid in Church, since it was during the Ancient Times since I last attended a mass for one full hour. Actually, it was one hour and 15 minutes. It’s not really that I’ve never set foot on Churches, but I’ve never attended mass seriously, for I think more than a year. There were some instances where I would just pass by a church and spend some minutes there. (If lucky I could even listen to the priest’s sermon). But I never really got the chance to attend from the start till the end.
I came to Church last Sunday with my mother. I was really hoping for this day, but I think we were both tired and we really don’t meet that much. I was surprised when I just blurted out last Saturday evening, “Ma, simba tayo.”
And so it happened.
First thing the next morning, I just heard my mother said, “Kala ko ba magsisimba tayo?” And I just automatically woke up and prepared my self to go to church. It would be a good day. I thought.
We went to church in Concepcion, Marikna, and attended the 7:30 Mass.
I wasn’t really a religious person. Sorry to say but not that spiritual as well. Well, I’m trying to understand things, but I guessed I still get confused most of the time.
I was born with Catholic parents. And so, I was raised a Catholic. I know Our Father, Apostles Creed, and other prayers as well.
When I was in fifth grade I had a Born Again Christian teacher. We didn’t have crucifix in the room, and it was the time, I started not doing the sign of the cross. but, i still do sometimes.
There are a lot of debates and arguments about which religion is the best or which one says the truth or will bring us to everlasting life. I can’t say I’m a devout Catholic, I don’t believe everything in church. But, i do attend mass and observe the proper attitude inside the Church. And one question boggles me: How Saying Peace Be With You came to be?
I learned from the internet that it was already done in old Christian gathering. What they did is kiss each other as they offer their word of peace. But, I wouldn’t say it to some one if I don’t mean it. On the second thought, saying it to someone you don’t know in the mass doesn’t hurt anyway.
Peace Be With You.

Nothing to say yet..

whew! it's been a long time since I've written something here. Well, actually it is because nowadays I'm a little busy, if not I'm just staring at space thinking about things that I wish would happen but would not unless I do something. Before finishing college my dream really was to write professionally. Until now, it's still a dream. Maybe, I have nothing to say yet.

DEPARTURE AREA

Some of my students are leaving on Sunday, and today is the last time that I would see them. It makes me a little sad but not that much anyway. I already learned that life is like this: On the way me meet a lot of people, some are exceptional, while most are ordinary. But sometimes those ordinary people we see as not an interesting being could leave a lasting mark in our lives.

Kate was an ordinary student, she was very quiet at first and a little shy, (I think). She had been my student since the first day she studied here. At first, it was very hard to communicate with her because of language barrier and hesitation to open up topics to her because I still don't know what could pull her strings. I did not feel any special connections with her until recently. I was touched when she said that I am her favorite teacher. Even if I have the mindset that she might have told this to other teachers, I was still touched. I think that she is a nice girl. even if she called me a criminal(which is meant for a joke) thrice. The other students are also special in different ways. It was so funny that they made letters for us, and I think that their letters are heartfelt though they are little hard to understand.

This afternoon I haven't showed much emotion of sadness maybe because I was excited of the picture-taking session, I was pressured from drawing Ricky's request and I just really want to act normal in this kind of situation. After few hours(right now), a bit of emotion sank finally. I know I would really miss teaching in Valle Verde. It was funny though because at the start I really didn't want to be there.

I would miss my girl students who have lots of excuses.

I would miss their funny English accent.

I would miss the jokes the boy students play.

I would miss the peculiar terms they use and their dirty minds.

I would miss running up and down the stairs.

I would miss laughing with them.

I would miss calling their names.

But as the cliche goes:

Life goes on. And it does. I know they will soon forget this day. I think I would never forget it, though I know that the degree of emotion would degenerate because time heals all wounds and scars are not painful anyway.
